It would never happen... but if Democrats heeded the criticism from the Philadelphia Inquirer and Washington Post and announced that Harry Reid would not be returning as the party's leader in the Senate, but would instead resign his position because of a failure to disclose a $700,000 land deal with a guy tied to mob cases... they would have a stunningly strong claim to be the Party of Real Reform.

It would be a striking contrast with the whole Foley mess.

But the Democrats won't, ensuring that all the Foley mudslinging is all just posturing, all nonsense. They're still the party of William Jefferson and Alan Mollohan and Bob Menendez, of Reps. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) and Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) accepting trips from the Cuban government, and all of the politics as usual...
